HOW e2i HELPED A MIT TENANT IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY BY 140%
Today, e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) has helped over 800 companies tap onto the $100 million Inclusive Growth Programme (IGP) to enhance their operations to drive productivity and equip their workers to boost efficiency. Productivity improvement projects include enhancing work processes and investing in new machinery or technology.
One of the many beneficiaries of IGP is Systematic Laundry & Healthcare Services Pte Ltd (SLHS), a MIT tenant located at Woodlands Spectrum.
Systematic Laundry & Healthcare Services
The Business: Provides dry cleaning services to hotels, service apartments, clubs, airlines, dormitories, retail customers etc.
Challenges
SLHS’s business has grown by 30% over the last 2 years. The new businesses were mainly from dormitory, hotel and retail sectors. In order to support its business, SLHS has been relying on foreign manpower as it was difficult to attract locals, given the hot and dirty environment.
IGP Solutions
For a more sustainable business growth, SLHS proposed to automate their loading (feeding), ironing and folding processes with an “Automatic Flatwork Finishing Line”.
Company Benefits
The new automation will help the company to achieve at least a 140% improvement from current process. The excess manpower will be redeployed to new operation as company was looking at expansion.
Worker Benefits
The local workers will receive a salary increment of around 18% plus other incentives in their remuneration package.

The IGP serves to catalyse industry re-development, promote inclusive growth and to ensure sharing of productivity gains with workers through higher wages. The programme encourages businesses to become more productive by co-funding projects that improve productivity using measureable indicators, as well as improve the value of low-wage jobs and raise the wages of workers who are earning $1,700 and below per month.
Eligible companies can receive up to S$150,000 per project and S$500,000 per company per year:
